Happy 13th Birthday to Sophie, cupcake creator extraordinaire!
The "fries" are toasted poundcake, the "ketchups" are mini cupcakes baked in souffle cups and frosted with red frosting. Catching up on our cupcake of the month...only 2 months behind now. Sophie is bringing these in to her friends for an actual birthday celebration at lunchtime. Stay tuned for Momofuku Milk Bar "Birthday Cake" later this week, and congrats to the author Christina Tosi who was just named "Rising Star Chef of the Year" by the James Beard Foundation.

Happy (belated) Birthday, Sophie! Those fries look like fries. I don't believe that they're poundcake. Nope.
