Halo halo--you had me at shaved ice
Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:04AM
When your husband grows up in Hawaii you can bet that trying every country's version of shave ice will be part of your travel plans....from pat bing su in Seoul, to durian shaved ice in Malaysia to halo halo in a tiny Filipino grocery in San Antonio. I actually called ahead to make sure they had it--it is something that my Filipino coworkers in Hawaii got me hooked on. We had a great plate lunch style dinner of pork adobo, chicken and pork buns and lumpia at Tabares on Pat Booker followed by the halo halo pictured above. Felt like home.

In Culebra and Westover Hills junction opposite to shell gas station there is a Philipino restaurant Wootz Chinese Cuisine. They prepare very good Halo Halo.
