A. Dong

 A. Dong , unfortunate name, great restaurant.  While we could never replace our beloved Hakatabunko Ramen there are definite pluses to A. Dong--no wait, specifically no wait in a line outside the door in 10F--but that's probably because we are in Texas and not Seoul, same with the automatic provision of forks.  Miss the shouted Japanese greeting and the richness of tonkotsu broth...Sophie still picks the onions out of her pho but at least she has the option of adding sprouts or not.  The complexity of the broth and the ~50% Vietnamese clientele in A. Dong are convincing for providing a stateside noodle fix...hope to brave the menu written in Vietnamese in the future once we are established regulars.

We have dined at A. Dong 2x. It advertised both Vietnamese and Chinese food - which usually makes us nervous, but here our fears were unfounded. The pho is light and delicious, and the Chinese beef dish I had was flavorful but not overly seasoned. Definitely worth a stop if you find yourself in NE San Antonio.
